There are a limited supply of critical minerals to produce lithium batteries. By spreading out these limited resources across Hybrid (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and All-Electric (BEV) vehicle batteries, we can produce more low emission vehicles. The materials needed to produce a battery in a single long-range BEV can be spread into approximately 6 equivalent PHEV batteries or roughly 90 equivalent HEV batteries.
